Marion County had 44 4-H and FFA members weigh-in 68 market beef animals on January 8 for the 2012 Marion County Fair.
Twenty-four were market heifers and 43 were market steers. The breeds that were weighed-in were 1 Angus, 9 Chianina, 3 Herefords, 3 Maine-Anjou, 2 Simmentals, 3 Shorthorns, and 47 Crossbreds. Weights ranged from 305 to 980 pounds. For the 2012 Iowa State Fair, 35 calves were validated. There were also 21 calves verified for AK-SAR-BEN.
Assisting with the weigh-in were County Extension staff and the following beef superintendents and volunteers: Bill Miller, Brent Hanna, Ken Vander Linden, Larry Renard, Roy Jahner, Craig Kaisand, Kyle Kingery, Stan Sneller, Don Frey, Jeremy Rawlings, Zeke Kauzlarich, Garrett Hollinrake, Ms. Tingwald, and Molly Kephart.
