Chamber Annual Membership Meeting postponed

Due to expected weather

Pella — The Pella Chamber of Commerce has been keeping a close eye on the timing of the upcoming snow event.  Given the timing and duration of the storm, they will be postponing our Chamber Annual Membership Meeting originally scheduled for this Friday (Feb 22) to next week Thursday, Feb 28 from 7-8:30 a.m., at the Graham Conference Center.

The Pella Chamber apologizes for the inconvenience, but hopeful all are still able to attend.  If you are able to join the meeting, please RSVP by Monday, Feb 25 so they can give an accurate food count to the caterer by emailing Karen@pella.org, Sue@pella.org or give our office a call at 628-2626.

Representatives from the Pella Community Schools will be joining the meeting to give an overview of, and answer questions on, the district’s facility update projects.  The Chamber wants you have all your questions answered and all the information you need as residents in the Pella School district will be asked to vote on the bond referendum on April 2.

As reported in The Chronicle, building a new elementary school is one component of the proposed school bond issue that will be placed before voters. Other components of the project include significant renovations and expansion to the high school including an arts addition, athletic renovation and/or addition, administrative addition, and renovation of the commons area plus the construction of a career academy building in partnership with DMACC which will be used by Pella and Pella Christian students to receive dual credit in nine career areas as well as additional safety and security enhancements to the high school, middle school and Jefferson. An overview of the project including the tax implications is available on the school Web site at www.pella.k12.ia.us.
