Winter storm update

Pella — According to the Marion County Road Dept., both motor graders and trucks will continue to work until 7 p.m. tonight.  They will begin again at 4 a.m. tomorrow.  County plows are encountering high winds, soft rock roads and ice accumulation under packed snow on the pavements, all of which contribute to difficult plowing conditions.  Roads that have been plowed are susceptible to drifting shut.  Currently we are anticipating having the rock roads open at least one way by the end of the day Thursday.  Unnecessary travel is discouraged.
