Gerben Veenstra and Kathy Grubb of Pella were married 45 years ago on June 28, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. The couple have one daughter, Renee, who is married to Mark McCulley and two grandchildren, Jake and Sydney of New Sharon.

Tulip Time successful, despite snow
Tulip Time, earlier this month, saw extra adversity this year in the form of an unexpected snowfall. Despite the odd weather, Dick Redman of the Tulip Time Steering Committee is proud of what the town accomplished.

Marine weds high school sweetheart before deployment
Wesley Hoksbergen and Taylor Carter of Pella were wed around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon in a civil ceremony. Wesley is on his way to North Carolina to rejoin his Marine unit, and is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in the Spring.
