Central College will host both the Junior Dance Clinic and the Central Dance Classic Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Kuyper Athletic Complex. Kids from pre-K through eighth grade are invited to participate. A dance workshop at the Kuyper Athletic Complex starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Junior dancers will perform that evening at the Central Dance Classic in P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Admission to the Central Dance Classic is $5 per person; children 12 years and under are free.
Cost for the clinic is $25 and includes a T-shirt, snack, dance workshop and admission into the show for the child. For a registration form or more information, contact Cindy Wilson at wilsonc@central.edu or call 641-628-5382. Forms are due Thursday, Jan. 21.
Guest performers include Indianola High School, Newton High School, Steppin’ Out Dance Studio, The Dance Academy and clinic participants from the Pella area schools pre-kindergarten through eighth graders. A Central College singer will be the featured guest vocalist.
The dance team is directed by Cindy Wilson, head coach, and Mary Phifer, assistant coach, both of Monroe. Auditions for the 2010-11 squad are Friday-Saturday, April 9-10, at the Schipper Fitness Center. Friday’s session starts at 4 p.m. with auditions starting Saturday at 8 a.m.
