Two more arrests in juvenile sex video case

KNOXVILLE — The Knoxville Police Department has announced charges against two additional suspects regarding an alleged sexual encounter involving a 15-year-old girl. 

Jake Christian Smith, 19, Knoxville, was arrested last week on charges of third-degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor. Smith allegedly received oral sex from the minor. The February incident, according to court documents, was recorded on a laptop computer. 

Two more people are now being charged in connection with the case: Jordan Donovan Cowman, 19, Des Moines, and a 17-year-old Knoxville girl.

Cowman faces charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. Authorities believe he was responsible for recording the original incident.

The Knoxville girl, as yet unnamed, is also being charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. Police say she received the recording and showed it to at least one other person. 

Sexual explitation of a minor is a class C felony, and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $1,000-$10,000. The Knoxville Police Department is continuing to investigate.

Smith is scheduled to appear in Marion County District Court Friday morning.
