Body found in freezer identified

KOKOMO, Ind. —

Acting on a tip, Kokomo police arrested a man on a murder charge after finding a body in a freezer.

Walter L. Logan, 51, Kokomo, is being held without bail at the Howard County jail.

Howard County coroner Jay Price confirmed the body was Alex Shipp, but said he didn’t yet have a cause of death.

KPD Major Brian Seldon said the case began Saturday, when the mother of a 29-year-old man reported her son, Alex Shipp, missing. The mother told officers she hadn’t heard from her son since Nov. 8.

Investigators received information Sunday that  Shipp was possibly deceased and where he might be found.

Price said the body was found in a freezer, but the body wasn’t frozen. The freezer wasn’t plugged in.

The case remains under investigation. “We have some more things we need to look at,” Price said.
