Hearthstone, a Ministry of WesleyLife in partnership with Aging Resources, is now offering “A Matter of Balance” fall prevention workshop. This workshop meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. at Pella Manor from October 25 to November 17.
A “Matter of Balance” is an award winning program (2006 Healthcare and Aging Award, American Society on Aging, 2006 Innovations and Achievements Award National Association of Area Agencies on Aging) designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls.
“I am already noticing a difference in my physical being. I plan to continue these exercises. Hopefully I’ll be jumping over the moon soon.” And “I seem to be more aware of every situation for my safety. I now, stop, look and listen to my surroundings.”

Hearthstone Healthy Aging Expo held
On Wednesday, Oct. 24, 55 older adults participated in the second annual Hearthstone Healthy Aging Expo held at Pella Manor. The ten expo vendors shared with attendees healthy aging tips for body, mind and spirit. Interactive wellness events included bone density screenings, arch support readings, blood sugar testing, blood pressure readings, flu shots, balance testing and massages. Based on evaluations, a majority of the attendees said based on what they learned at the Healthy Aging Expo, attendees will be making changes to improve their health.
