Pella — As part of the Accountable Care Act, Dialysis at Pella Regional Health Center is being rewarded for meeting all required guidelines of the Pay for Performance measure which is being implemented for dialysis centers in 2012.
Pay for performance is a payment method that rewards physicians, hospitals, medical groups and health care providers for meeting certain performance measures for quality and efficiency. It can also be used as a penalty for not meeting quality and efficiency standards.
Nearly 54% of the nation’s dialysis centers are being penalized based on the quality of the services they provide. Penalties range anywhere from ½-2% reduction to the amount of reimbursement that could be received through Medicare or Medicaid. Pella Regional will continue to be funded at the full rate without any penalty.
