The Iowa Food Bank Association will return to Pella on Tuesday, August 7, to help individuals learn about and apply for Food Assistance (EBT) benefits as a part of their SNAP Mobile Access Points project. Staff will be available at the Pella Community Shelf at Peace Lutheran Church from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
SNAP is the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and was formerly known as the Food Stamp Program. In Iowa, SNAP is called the Food Assistance Program. Benefits are accessed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
The Online Application for State of Iowa Services (OASIS) is the online joint application for assistance for numerous state programs. Food Assistance is available to many individuals in Iowa, who may not know that they are eligible or who have a difficult time knowing how or where to apply. A recent change in Food Assistance eligibility may make benefits available to many working or older Iowans who were not eligible in the past.
If you know anyone who could benefit from extra help in purchasing food, please have them contact Cindy Jones at 319-529-0533 or by email at email@example.com to schedule an appointment for Tuesday, August 7.
