I'm worried

Pella — To the editor,

The other day, I heard about an initiative Dave Loebsack has been working on that made me awed and convinced that he’s the right choice in November. Dave has been pushing a bill to stop Congress from getting paid if they don’t pass a budget.

It seems like accountability is something that has been absent in Washington for a long time now. Dave gets that Washington is supposed to represent us, the people, not lobbyists and special interests. Dave’s announced that he pledges to never become a lobbyist.   Further he has been working to make Congress more accountable.

Even better, he’s found ways to work with Republicans to do it. In fact, he even pushed a bill to stop spending our taxpayer dollars on political conventions with the Republican who used to run the House Republican campaign arm. That’s right; Dave reached out and worked with the former Chairman of an organization that is already spending money against him to the tune of almost a million dollars because it was the right thing to do. He gets the lessons that we all learned in kindergarten; that is we need to cooperate and play well with others and not the game being played now. If that doesn’t show character, I don’t know what does.

I’m proud that Dave has taken our Iowa values with him to Washington and told Congress to clean up its act. I’m proud to be voting for Dave Loebsack on November 6th.
