Pella —
Yes, there really are winners in those big cash giveaways. This time, the winners happen to be from Marion County.Jordan Grier and Sarah Brees of Pella received a game piece in the mail. They scratched their ticket off and the numbers on their card matched the prize-winning numbers at Carrikers Auto Outlet in Knoxville.
This promotion is giving away smaller prizes, such as gift cards and home theater systems. When a Carrikers representative checked to see what the couple won, everyone was surprised to see that their game piece was worth $10,000. The odds of actually winning the $10,000 were 1:125,155.“I thought they were screwing with us,” Brees said was her initial reaction when the couple was told what they had won.
“We’re just excited,” Grier says of the win. The couple are engaged to be married, but have no wedding date set. They have a four-month-old daughter, Averi. As for what they will do with the money, they intend to use some of it for a down payment on a house.Carrikers Auto Outlet General Sales Manager Kelly Spiker was pleased that the dealership has a grand prize winner. The fact that the winners are a young couple starting their lives together made it that much better.
“It couldn’t have been better,” Spiker said. “We are very happy for the couple.”Spiker has been a part of other promotions for the past 10 years. This was the biggest prize he has seen anyone win.
The win added to excitement that was already brewing at the dealership. After two years on Pleasant Street, the dealership is finalizing the purchase of the old Sonic property on the corner of Bell Avenue and Highway 14.Spiker says it is a great location, but it will be under construction for at least a couple of months. The new location will allow the dealership to showcase and hold more vehicles on the lot. The traffic on Highway 14 will also make them more visible, he added.
