Hayek recognized for pro bono work

Pella — Assistant Marion County Attorney Benjamin Hayek was named to the 2011/2012 Pro Bono Honor Roll.  Mr. Hayek completed 50 or more hours of pro bono work while in private practice prior to joining the Marion County Attorney’s Office earlier this year.

Marion County Attorney Ed Bull commented: “ I think this acknowledgment speaks volumes to the integrity of Ben.  The Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct states that attorneys in private practice shall aspire to render 50 hours of community service.  Ben did just that last year.  In Johnson County, Ben’s County of residence only 33 attorneys provided legal services for free last year, and of the 33 only 6, including Ben provided more than 50 hours of free legal services  to those unable to pay.  I am proud of the attorney’s that work in my office, and I am glad to see Ben receive the accolades he deserves for his dedicated service to his community prior to joining the County Attorney’s Office.”
