Pella Regional Health Center adds $30,862,248 to local economy

Pella — Pella Regional Health Center generates 672 hospital jobs that add $30,862,248 to Marion County’s local economy, according to the latest study by the Iowa Hospital Association. In addition, Pella Regional’s employees contribute $7,053,373 in retail sales and $423,202 in sales tax.

The study examined the jobs, income, retail sales and sales tax produced by hospitals and the rest of the state’s health care sector. The study was compiled from hospital-submitted data on the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals and with software that other industries have used to determine their economic impact.

Iowa community hospitals generate more than 133,000 jobs that add nearly $6.2 billion to the state’s economy, according to the latest Iowa hospital economic impact report. In addition, Iowa hospital employees by themselves spend $1.8 billion on retail sales and contribute nearly $106 million in state sales tax revenue.
