Local students will spend the spring break on a music tour with the Dordt College Concert Band and Concert Orchestra including:
Stephanie Fynaardt of Pella, Iowa, is part of the Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra. Fynaardt is a senior majoring in nursing.
Devin Veenstra of Pella, Iowa, is part of the Concert Band. Veenstra is a senior majoring in music with an emphasis in instrumental education.
The tour will perform in South Dakota, Montana, Alberta, Washington state, Idaho, and Colorado.
The two instrumental groups will perform a variety of pieces under the direction of Bradley Miedema. The band will perform works by Gustav Holst, Johann Sebastian Bach, Adam Gorb, and more. The orchestra will perform pieces by William Boyce, William Walton, Norman Dello Joio, and more.
Dordt College has approximately 300 U.S. and international students who participate in the music program, with opportunities to perform in four choral groups, two orchestras, and three bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students.

Sadler honored with remaing of cottage
A retirement party was held last Thursday evening for Patsy Sadler honoring her for her 36 years of service as the Pella Historical Society Village Director. In honor of Patsy and Dean's contributions to the society, the Historical Society Board renamed her former workplace as the 'Sadler Cottage'. Approximately 180 well-wishers attended the open house.
