Pella —
On September 29, 2012, volunteers across the United States will help restore the beauty and vitality of our public lands as part of the 19th annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD). More than 170,000 volunteers are expected at more than 2,000 sites in communities and parks around the nation.
Join us at Lake Red Rock to assist in this national effort! The Corps of Engineers is looking for volunteers to help pick up litter along the shoreline and stain picnic tables in our campgrounds. Activities take place from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Your help will keep the parks and public lands looking great for the future.
This year’s NPLD events are focused on supporting our public lands, spending time outdoors, and being more active. Lake Red Rock, Iowa’s Largest Lake, provides the perfect place to get outside into nature. After the event, take a hike on one of the lake’s nature trails, try your luck searching for geocaches, pitch a tent for a fall season campout, or enjoy some of the many other outdoor adventures!
For more information or to volunteer for the event, contact Park Ranger Tracy Spry at (641) 828-7522 or via email at lakeredrock@usace.army.mil. For more information about National Public Lands Day, visit www.publiclandsday.org.
