CANCELLED/POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER: December 20 Visit Santa on the Square!  

The snow storm has Santa hard at work to finish everything by Christmas Eve, so he has canceled his visit to the Windmill in Pella's Central Park this evening.  He wants to let all boys and girls know that he will be back in Pella on Christmas Eve!

 




CANCELLED/POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER: December 20 Pella Historical Village presents Christmas Walk Evening Tour
Try something new by enjoying something historic this holiday season! The Pella Historical Village's Christmas Walk Evening Tour will be held from 5:30 to 8 pm on Thursday December 20. The Historical Village is beautifully lit for the season, especially at night, walk through and enjoy the scenery. Will also have bell ensemble and harp ensemble concerts at 6:30 and 7:30; dessert buffet served all evening. Free for Pella Historical Members, guest admission is $3. Please enter at the Wyatt Earp House, 507 Franklin.





December 24 Nine Lessons and Carols Christmas Eve Service

Come enjoy a traditional and enriching Christmas Eve Service, based on the historic Nine Lessons and Carols service at King's College chapel, Cambridge, England.  Hear the Story once more, sing the songs again, as we celebrate the story of Messiah's birth, the Word made flesh. December 25: Merry Christmas




December 25 Free Community Meal

Christmas Day at Excite-A-Bowl in Pella. Continuous serving on drop-in basis from 11-12:30. RSVP please to 641-204-1970.





December 26-30 Christmas Tree Pickup

City offers curbside collection of Christmas trees. Christmas trees will be picked up December 26th through December 31st. Three additional days for pick up will be offered on January 2nd, 9th and 16th. Trees must be placed at curb by 7:00am on pick up day. All trees must be able to go through the chipper which means they must be unwrapped, free from plastic bags, wire, nails and stands. Trees that do not meet these requirements WILL NOT be picked up. Christmas wreaths and roping with wire will be collected as normal household waste if placed within a closed tote.
 


December 27-29 Holiday Hoops Contest

Basketball camp and contest for kids! Each days boys and girls camp practices are 8:30-9:30 am for grades K-2, 9:30-11 am grades 3-5 , 11 am-1 pm grades 6-8. Practices held at Work Systems Rehab & Fitness. T-shirt included, prizes and awards for contest winners. Daily 3 on 3 games. Cost is $39 for all 3 days. Register online at shoot-it.com.





December 27 Work System's Kick Punch and Lunch Registration Deadline

Darren McGriff, Personal Trainer and Fitness Manager, is launching Kick, Punch and Lunch. This class is 5 days a week (M-F) at 12 (noon) January 2-31. YOU will get the Ultimate Kickboxing Aerobic Workout, our delicious Recovery Shakes for lunch and you will be back to work in an hour! Cost to Participate: Members: $130.00, Non-Members: $150.00. Thursdays & Fridays open till 7 pm; Saturdays till 4 pm. Will also feature strolling music and entertainment on some weekend hours.   

  

Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church). Game prices range from $0.50 to 2.00 a game or $17 for a game packet. For more information contact Peggy Moriarity at 641-628-1549.
