Hearthstone to host Feb. 13 Meeting about fundraising for The Cottages

Pella — Hearthstone, a Ministry of WesleyLife, will hold the second of two public meetings about the fundraising campaign for The Cottages on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The Cottages, Hearthstone’s newest and most innovative community, is designed to transform the aging experience by promoting healthy living, independence and dignity.

The first public meeting about The Cottages took place Feb. 6. The Feb. 13 meeting will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. in Central College’s Graham Conference Center. RSVPs are required and reservations may be made online by visiting www.wesleylife.org/RSVP or by calling 629-0125. More information about The Cottages is available at http://www.pellaproject.org.

At the Feb. 13 meeting, Hearthstone officials will share plans for The Cottages and discuss opportunities to support the fundraising campaign for the $20 million development, which will be built on 50 acres of rolling hills along Main Street near Big Rock Road in Pella.

Hearthstone/WesleyLife has committed $15 million to The Cottages and secured financing through local banks. A campaign to raise the balance of $5 million from the community is making steady progress with contributions amounting to $2.77 million. This total includes $550,000 in combined donations from the co-chairs of the campaign: Mark and Key De Cook, Bruce and Sandy Heerema, Stan and Gayle Poortinga and Bob and Lois Vermeer.

The co-chairs say they believe The Cottages will provide exciting new options for older adults in Pella and Marion County. They’re confident that once citizens see for themselves what The Cottages will offer that they will provide additional support to enable the campaign to reach the $5 million goal.
