Ask the Corps

Pella — The machinery that operates the dam’s tainter gates (large flood gates) is in the process of being repainted.  The components are located below the highway T-15 bridge on the dam's concrete structure, and they receive a lot of severe weathering.  Thomas Industrial from Saint Louis, Missouri will perform the work.  They recently started assembling platforms and other set-up tasks in preparation for task.  Preparation is anticipated to last about two weeks, with the painting to take about a month.  For more information, contact the Corps office at (641) 828-7522 or (641) 628-8690.
