Pella —
Jana Van Zanten of Pella, Iowa, is spending the semester on the Trinity Semester in Spain program. Van Zanten is a Dordt College senior majoring in clinical psychology. She also has a minor in Spanish.
This semester, 38 Dordt students have chosen to participate in semester-long off-campus and study abroad programs. They're living, studying, and working or interning in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. as well as in the Netherlands, Costa Rica, the Middle East, New Zealand, Spain, and Italy.
Dordt College wants its students to understand global and cross-cultural issues, and there is no better way to learn than to be immersed in another culture.
When students spend time in a culture other than their own, they are able to see how they can contribute to a global society. "When you live in another culture, you learn more about yourself than you do about that culture – about who you are and how you've been shaped by your culture," said Linda Van Wyk, coordinator of international students and off-campus programs at Dordt College.
