Katherine Evans

Pella — Katherine Lorraine (Comstock) Evans, 59, of Bussey, Iowa passed away Thursday September 6, 2012 at the Bright Kavanagh House hospice facility in Des Moines.  As were her wishes, she will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday September 9, 2012 at Kathy’s home in Bussey with a pot-luck afterwards.  Her brother Jeff Comstock and Pastor Homer from Union Liberty Church will be officiating.



She now resides in heaven with her son Jerry Joe, her little niece Delayne, her great niece Abby, 4 brothers: Jim, Jerry, Joe, and Mike; her father, her mother and father in law Berdene and Polo; numerous Uncles and Aunts, Grandparents, and friends.



Katherine is survived by husband Thom Evans of Oskaloosa, IA; two children: Candy Evans of Columbia, IA, Tommy Evans of Bussey, IA;  granddaughter Haley Evans of Bussey, IA; mother Lorraine of Knoxville, IA; brothers Dennis Comstock and John Comstock, both of Albia, IA, Jeff Comstock and Milo Comstock, both of Lovilia, IA,; sisters Barb Comstock of Lovilia, IA, Mary Robert of Victor, IA, JoAnn Vanderveer of Beacon, IA, Jeanne Comstock of Palmetto, FL, and Marla Clement of Natural Bridge, NY; and many nieces and nephews.



Katherine Lorraine Comstock was born September 13, 1952 to Robert and Lorraine Josephine (Tice) Comstock in Albia, Iowa.  She grew up in Albia and Lovilia, graduating from Albia High School, until she married Thomas Evans on April 10, 1976.  She then lived in Melcher and Knoxville for two years before moving to Bussey, where she lived for the rest of her life.  Katherine earned a business degree from Indian Hills Community College.  She worked as a waitress, paper girl, and bar maid before she got a job as a store clerk for Garth and Paulette.  Katherine worked there for 20 years before buying the store in 1997.  Katherine was a member of the Union Liberty Church.  Katherine enjoyed playing cards, riding horses, and loved spending time with her family and kids.  She was loved and respected by her friends and community and will be dearly missed.



Memorial contributions can be made in Katherine’s name to the Bussey Fire Department and Hospice of Central Iowa.
