Anna Roose

Pella — Anna Vos Roose was born December 19, 1919, to Adrian and Sarah Vander Molen Vos in Mahaska County, Iowa.  She passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of ninety-two years and eleven months.

She received her early education at the Peoria Christian Grade School.  She was a life-long member of the Peoria Christian Reformed Church where she made profession of her faith and was active in the Perisis Ladies Society.  She was also a member of the Pella Christian High Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed serving on many committees.

On December 19, 1945, Anna was united in marriage with Cornelius (Neal) Roose in Peoria, Iowa.  They were blessed with five children: Lawrence, Sherma, Marcia, Carl, and Rosie.  They raised their children on the farm northwest of Peoria, and moved to Pella in 1977.

Anna worked several years as a cook at both Central Park Café and Hilltop South.  She enjoyed volunteering and serving with many organizations after her retirement.  Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and playing games with her friends at Fair Haven and Jefferson Place.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children and their spouses: Lawrence and Helen Roose of Pella, Marcia and Earl Van Gorp of Pella, Carl and Linda Roose of Pleasant Hill, and Rosie and Ken Hol of New Sharon; her son-in-law Ralph Van Donselaar and his wife Lavonne of Cedar; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Cornelia Vos of Oskaloosa and Bertha Roose of Pella.

Anna was preceded in death by: her husband, Neal, in 1992; her daughter Sherma Van Donselaar in 1976; a granddaughter, Lorna Jean Van Donselaar in 1970; four brothers: Peter Vos, Ben Vos, Cornie Vos, and Martin Vos; two sisters that died at an early age; and her sister Margaret Van Haaften.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church.  Burial took place at the Peoria Cemetery.  The Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
