Knoxville — Fire chiefs in Marion County have reached a consensus that, due to the drought-like conditions in the county, a burn ban should be in place.
"Because of the extremely dry conditions in Marion County a majority of the Fire Chiefs have agreed to implement a County wide burn ban. This includes the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County. This ban takes effect at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 11," a press release from Sheriff Ron Goemaat reads.
