Pella —
Late last month the Pella Recreation Swim Team had 60 of the 110 team members compete at the Central Iowa Swim Conference swim meet.
The meet was held at the Marshalltown YMCA and nine teams participated. The Pella swimmers brought home 115 total 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals, of those medals, 88 were individual events and 27 were team relay events.
The team had 17 individual 1st place finishes, 29 individual 2nd place finishes and 42 individual 3rd place finishes.
A total of 77 swimmers swam personal bests and six team records were broke. The 2012 summer team was coached by Jennie Hedrick-Rozenberg, Ben Hedrick, Michael Etnyre and Michael Schemm.
The swim program continues to grow in size and success. The team has a lot to look forward to this winter with programs starting in October and concluding in March. Pella Parks and Recreation department will have Winter Swim Team registration information available in September.
