Pella —
Mediapolis, the top ranked volleyball team in the state in Class 3A, won the Pella High Lady Dutch Volleyball Tournament Saturday with a perfect 5-0 mark.
Mediapolis is unbeaten for the season with a mark of 34-0.
Pella grabbed second in the round-robin tournament with a mark of 4-1.
Greene County was third with a 2-3 record Saturday followed by Knoxville in fourth at 2-3, PCM (Monroe) and North Mahaska each had records of 1-4.
Pella beat Knoxville 21-18, 21-19. They tripped up North Mahaska 21-17, 21-18 and PCM 21-8, 21-6.
The Dutch also tripped up Greene County 21-11, 21-19.
Mediapolis knocked off Coach Catie Brand’s Dutch squad 21-18, 21-18.
The Dutch head into the week of Oct. 8-13 with a season mark of 16-15 overall.
Pella has now won 7 of its last 8 contests.
Knoxville
In the win over the Panthers, the Dutch had 11 kills from sophomore Jessica Holeterhaus. Morgan Ernst had 12 assists and Regan Nelson 10.
Mallory Lynch led the Dutch in digs with nine followed by Shannon Ewing with six.
Makenna Bogaard was 8-of-9 serving with one ace.
North Mahaska
The Warhawks put up a fight against the Dutch before falling 21-18 in the second set.
The Dutch led 12-8 but N.M. fought back to tie the game at 18-18.
Pella added the final three points for the win 21-8.
Holterhaus had six assists while Ernst and Nelson each had seven assists.
Nelson and Taelor Rempe each had seven digs. Kylie Roslien had four big ace serves in the match.
PCM
The Dutch cruised past the PCM Mustangs.
A 9-1 run in game two lifted the Dutch from a 7-1 lead to 16-2 en route to the victory.
Anna Van Roekel topped the Pella charts with six kills and Nelson had nine assists.
Rempe had nine digs and Jillian Sagers led with five ace serves.
Greene County
Van Roekel had six kills while Bogaard and Holterhaus each added four in the win over Greene County.
Other leaders for the Dutch were Nelson with 11 assists, Rempe six digs and Nelson with four ace serves.
Mediapolis
The lone set back to Mediapolis saw Pella with five kills from Bogaard and 19 digs by Rempe.
Roslien and Shannon Ewing each had three ace serves against the top ranked team in 3A.
