Sarah Michelle Abele and Nicholas James Kuennen were united in marriage on June 2, 2012, at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella by Pastor Chris Piersma.
Sarah is the daughter of Brian and Barb Abele of Leland, Iowa. Her grandparents are Merlin and Marietta Norris, Lake Mills, and Bonnie Osnes, Forest City. Nick’s parents are Jim and Charrn Kuennen of Fort Atkinson, Iowa. His grandparents are Gerald and Bev McEnaney, Decorah, and MaryAnn Kuennen, Lawler.
Maid of honor was Allison Greenfield, sister of the bride. Sarah’s other attendants were Audrey Parker Putz, Stephanie Bollard, Sally Tieskoetter, and Jill Payne. Best man was Tim Kuennen, brother of the groom. Nick’s other attendants were Dustin Huinker, Bob Kuennen, Wade Steinlage, and Nate Rollene.
The flower girls were Josie Tieskoetter, Bailey Kuennen, and Kenlie Greenfield. The ring bearers were Logan and Caden Tieskoetter. Ushers were Ben Bollard, Tyler Petersen, Matt Askew, and Josh Brungardt. Soloists were Scott Burns and Lacey Hatland. The bride’s personal attendants were Emily Wieneke and Becky Gleason.
A reception was held at Prairie Meadows Events Center in Altoona, Iowa.
Sarah received a BA in Elementary Education from Wartburg College, and a Masters in Advanced Studies in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake University. She is employed at Pella Community Schools.
Nick received a BS in Computer Science from Central College. He is employed at Pella Corporation.
The couple honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica in June. They currently reside in Pella, Iowa.
